Tomorrow's People is a UK-based charity set up in 1984 that strives to break the cycle of unemployment. Over the last 25 years it has worked with around 400,000 people, helping them gain access to sustainable, long-term work.

'Working it Out' is a Tomorrow's People initiative designed specifically for young people. The programme "helps socially excluded young people gain practical work experience and life-management skills through a series of community initiatives."

These images explore the experiences of a group of young people on the ‘Working it Out’ programme in the Elephant and Castle area of south London. The group includes asylum seekers from Eritrea, refugees from Sierra Leone, and also local young adults from London. Their major community initiative during their time on the programme was the redecoration of the common room at Gateway Hostel, a temporary accommodation hostel where some of the group live. As well as the Tomorrow’s People staff, the group are also mentored by a volunteer.
